Settled by people for whom art was a natural birthright, Annapolis is the heart of Maryland culture and community. Boasting the first theatre in North America, performance art has always been important to our city. This is why we are ecstatic that, after so many years of dreams and plans, the Maryland Theatre for the Performing Arts (MTPA) is coming to Annapolis. We will build a 1,500 seat theatre with state of the art acoustics to accommodate all manner of live acts. We have an ideal location with $20 million in infrastructure already in place, including a 1,200 space garage, and we have the resounding support of local arts groups. Our community has enjoyed the arts through many great educational and cultural facilities over the years, but it’s time to establish a venue that will bring our celebration of the arts to a new level.
